Went there for Mothers Day after another kept us waiting 45 minutes after our reservation time..First choice next time. Friendly great service and delicious food had a wonderful dinner. Prices are very reasonable.
Best food, service and hospitality! Went for a girls' lunch and we all enjoyed ourselves!
Great fish and chips. I'm British so always get the craving every now and then. This is the best place over found!
Food was fantastic, best fish and chips we have had in forever. Had a pot of PG Tips to go along with my dinner. The chips are hand cut and perfectly seasoned. The curried cheese fries were just spicy enough. The decor on the walls is very British, images of the underground, Big Ben, London Bridge, the Parliament Building and more. All parking is street, no car park. BYOB, and save room for dessert. Try the date cake....
We have just eaten dinner here tonight. Food and service both excellent! I am originally from Liverpool, this food definitely tasted just like home! Big portions and very reasonable prices ( we have plenty of leftovers)😃 We will be back!!!
I haven’t had a sausage roll that good since I lived in London! The fish & chips were second to none. And I mean in the US or England! I can’t wait to come back for the meet pies!
So Fun! Everything made fresh, great selection, byob, and desserts mouthwatering.Friendly
One of many shops and eateries along the main street in Haddonfield NJ. Has a definite British feel to it. Food was delicious and well-prepared. Our waiter got our dessert order wrong, but it all worked out well enough. Parking can be found, but it takes some investigative driving. Prices were reasonable. Tables have HP steak sauce as a condiment, delicious and totally British!
Enjoyed a Pot of tea, with a delicious salad - fresh greens, cranberries, chicken, apple and walnuts. Followed by a fresh scone with cream and jam. A bit of the UK in New Jersey. A lovely way to spend an Autumn day.
Claims to be authentic fish and chips, but felt more like a greasey basket of ehh. I wasn't impressed at all as it was quite soggy and didn't taste great and the portions seemed quite small for what you pay. The price of doing businesses in Haddonfield is quite high and I just wish you got what you paid for and here you don't.
Best Sausage Rolls, Fish & Chips, Bangers n Mash British Eats I've ever had in America. The flavors transported me back to England. Chef Ian nailed it. They even have the original Irn Bru! Very clean, friendly service. Olivia and wait staff go above and beyond to make your dining experience top notch. I highly recommend The Chip Shop in Haddonfield.
The food is simple, and executed perfectly. Great atmosphere and great location. Our waitress was friendly and we came on a "candlelight shopping" night in the holiday season. We highly recommend! The new owners are fantastic and keeping the restaurant alive.
This is the most authentic British restaurant I've ever visited on this side of the pond. Prices are on par with other Haddonfield restaurants, meaning not cheap, but it's a lot cheaper than a flight to London, right?
Amazing food. Must try!!
An underbaked (read: raw) scone marred an otherwise decent experience. But for the prices of things ($14 for a small order of fish and chips?!?!), you would expect a better run of it.White pudding was honestly brilliant though. Probably worth a visit for breakfast. But skip the sweets and hit the bakery down the block
Nice spot with very good fish and chips (I had the haddock special). Also got a Scotch egg and the boy got grilled cheese with a side of tomato soup. Will definitely be stopping back.
Great food and service! Everything is so delicious and fresh. I really enjoyed the vegan veggie curry. It was so well flavored and tasty. My husband loved the cottage pie. They even have baked goods to go, which all looked very yum. We can't wait to go back.
Great food and service in a very comfortable environment. My first time there and the Chip Shop is definitely recommended. I will be back
Cute place to grab a bite to eat while walking through Haddonfield. Food was good and fresh. Pricing is hard to describe. Overall the food was a good value, but some items ($6 for a small cup of soup?!?!) were definitely not.
The marquee item, fish & chips, was pretty underwhelming. That said, the chicken & mushroom pie was outstanding.I just expected a more authentic experience regarding fish & chips from a place calling themselves The British Chip Shop, with a logo shaped like a fish. Also, $18 for a "large" order was pretty outrageous. It was 2 average pieces of fish and a fair amount of fries. Fortunately, many other items looked fantastic, and there is a wide variety of desserts.
I’ve been with my fiancée for four years now. Every single one of our anniversaries we come here and honestly it’s so amazing! It’s improved over the years and I am more than happy with the new ownership. We will definitely be coming more and more often. The passion and love put into everything really shows and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
This was our first visit after watching the food channel do a review of restaurants in England We decided we had to go and try fish and chips from an authentic british-inspired restaurant. We were quite happy with what we tried. The fish was delicious the chips also known as french fries in the US or flavorful and we had a cold sausage wrapped in a pastry along with a mustard dip that was absolutely divine. Seeing how much money we saved on airfare not having to go to England I am looking forward to going back here for some wonderful meals in the future. Enjoy!... Oh wait, I guess I should say jolly good!
Everything was fresh and delicious!. Our server was on the ball. Filled our tea when ever we needed it. We had the best salad, bangers and chips, and a rotisserie chicken sandwich with a salad. We asked for our chips to have the curry cheese on them and they did it for no up charge. I wanted to taste half the menu, so many great sounding dishes. We were so happy with our choices. Be back soon!
I love this place, however what I witnessed tonight was mean.I am a waitress, and sometimes it can get busy, but there isn’t any reason to degrade an employee in ear shot of customers. There is a such thing of constructive criticism vs degrading. And the waitress was nice, thorough and personable.
Always good for a meal with a menu that may not be authentic British but reflects cuisine that's popular over there. Would recommend the Chicken Tikka. The fish and chips is better than most, still not truly authentic but still good. Good range of deserts and drinks from Britain. Would recommend.
A nice little cafe that looks like a British pub. Great food and better service!
Good food but our server was super slow
First trying this restaurant/ style of food and it was delicious, food portions and flavor is good.
Amazing food servers were polite and wonderful even though tables were all full
For the price that you are paying, this place is not at all worth it. Service was honestly terrible. I see on here it says they’re a “quick bite” but it took our server a good half hour or maybe even longer to bring our appetizers. After that, didn’t see her again to take our order for like another good 20 minutes. By the time we finally got our food, our drinks were empty and she didn’t even ask if we wanted/needed anything. They forgot the tartar sauce and since she never came to check how we were on everything, I had to go up to her and ask for it. The food itself was mediocre, I had giant burnt chuck of something in my dish and our fries were undercooked. In total we spent maybe a good three hours there while other tables were coming in and going with no problem. My friends and I went in for a birthday dinner and were really disappointed. Don’t waste your money guys.
My family felt The British Chip Shop offered authentic British cuisine. However, British cuisine is not for everyone. For example, their fish and chips - the fish had a lot of batter on it, but apparently this is how fish is done in the UK. We liked their authentic British soda selection and thought the Welsh Rarebit was excellent. The restaurant has very, very limited vegan options as you might expect. Great location in the heart of Haddonfield.
Twice we have been to this restaurant and on both occasions the food has been authentic, fresh and hot. The service has been great and the food has been excellent value.
We just had Sunday brunch here. The selection is very British. I had to Google some dishes because I had no idea what it was! The scone was amazing, and the rest of the plates where delicious, if not a bit on the small side. The decor makes you feel like you're in a traditional English pub. We will go back again.
This is the go to place for British food! Where else will you find delightful and authentic British food around the Philadelphia metro area? I highly recommend!
This place is fun and I really enjoyed my burger. The fish and chips is great too. I love the English theme and soccer focus with the games showing.
Fish and chips are always a must here, but everything I've had from the menu has been great. Phenomenal decadent desserts as well
Great Fish and Chips! Fun serenade while we ate there at Christmas time
Huge shout out to Maddie!!! She absolutely made our night! Super friendly and I ended up just ordering everything she recommended. I started with the Flatbread (unbelievably fantastic), went on to the Cottage Pie (dude, seriously! Wow!), and ended with the Sticky Toffee Pudding (um, holy moley melty yummy!). My coworker and I were deciding between several restaurants and we thought this environment sounded fun, and we walked out with huge smiles on our faces and very full bellies. But ... what made it all next level was Maddie. You rock!
Definitely one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. I plan on making it a priority to stop here whenever I am in the area
Oh my goodness! This place was great! We had the sausage roll and devils on horseback for apps. Amazing! Then we got the “small” fish and chips and still it was a big portion. The fish was deliciously fresh and the batter was perfect. The fries (aka chips) were perfectly done with some nice malt vinegar at the table. We were so full but just had to buy an assortment of shortbread to take home. Can’t wait to return and bring friends. Thank you!
First off, service was great, I believe her name was Brandy. Drinks were good, pineapple/ grapefruit soda, Irn Bru English soda, and delicious iced tea. Welsh rarebit, sausage roll, fish n chips and haddock were all very good. Batter nice and light. Couldn't ask for a better night.
One of my customers came into store and asked whether I had been to this place. After making a trip over to Haddonfield, I was NOT disappointed. The service is on point, the food authentically British and is excellent quality. Have been back a few times since and definitely recommend to any ex-pat or someone who enjoys British food.
Very delicious! New owners are very nice!! Was there for Marvel trivia and was excited for the special desserts!
Love the food and people here! Authentic British dishes and perfect for eat in or take out, don't miss this masterpiece in Haddonfield!
Fish and chips are excellent! The British fare is true blue. Irn Bru soda is the best!!
The food is simple, and executed perfectly. Great atmosphere and great location. Our waitress was friendly and we came on a "candlelight shopping" night in the holiday season. We highly recommend! The new owners are fantastic and keeping the restaurant alive.
Amazing! Some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had and the sausage rolls are soft, flakey and exactly like what you get in the UK. The owner was friendly and service was wonderful! I can’t wait for COVID to go away so we can sample to full menu! We will definitely be back!
We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The waitstaff was great too.
Finally I have found a place that filled my void! I’ve been looking for an authentic chippy and have been pointed in the wrong direction many times! But this time I hit the jackpot!!! The fish and chips were the taste of home I’ve been craving and now more since we can’t get there! I couldn’t eat anything else the rest of the day because it tasted so great and to top it of I had some of my fave fizzy pop (soda) in over 3 years! Ian thank you so much for the chat, I’ve spread the word and will be back soon for my pudding with custard 😃
Cozy is a good word for this place. There aren't a lot of tables in here so I can see that it might get crowded. I went at lunch time and there was no wait but almost all tables were occupied. Food was good and service was as well. We had the fish and chips and a salad and both were prepared well.
